...Fall & Christmas being my favorite time of the year because of weather and all the time with family. Lent though is my second favorite time of the year because I always find it's a good time to recollect and refocus on Christ leading up to the cross. This year I've decided to try something a little different. I realized that while I can often see how God works in big things, like getting into graduate school, or in hindsight (because it is 20/20), I often have a hard time seeing God in the little, daily things. This isn't because He isn't present but because I'm not looking (unless it is parking in which case I always shout some praise for finding a spot). So I decided for Lent this year I would pick out a verse or couple of verses each week and really try to apply them to my life and to be aware of how God is working. I'm going to try, desperately, to blog about this and share the experience.
For this first week I chose Psalm 46:10 "He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” and Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." I chose these because I think being still before the Lord is a very difficult thing. I'm going to graduate school, working, planning a wedding, trying to keep up with friends, etc, etc... so being STILL is very hard but is a discipline I need to gain. Along with that I think it is important to step back and observe the big picture, how God is being glorified. We become so entangled in all the details and all the little things going on that seeing God's work can be difficult but by taking a step back, and being still, we can remember that ultimately God is glorified and that He is constantly at work.
Good luck leener! can't wait to read on!
