Harry Potter.

Rereading the books, of course, as the final movie approaches - and instead of blowing up facebook every other second with all the fantastic quotes, I thought I would share them here & I'll be adding as I read :) ALSO, feel free to comment & leave some of your own! :)

Sorcerer's Stone
"Aunt Petunia often said Dudley looked like a baby angel -- Harry often said that Dudley looked like a pig in a wig."

"'Why would you be mad to try and rob Gringotts?' Harry asked. 'Spells --enchantments," said Hagrid, unfolding his newspaper as he spoke. 'They say there's dragons guardin the high-security vaults.'"

"'I've learned all our course books by heart, of course, I just hope it will be enough -- I'm Hermione Granger, by the way, who are you?'"

the entire chapter on Halloween - so good :) ending with "But from that moment on, Hermione Granger became their friend. There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them"

"'And you could ask your parents if they know who Flamel is,' said Ron. 'It'd be safe to ask them.' 'Very safe, as they're both dentists,' said Hermione."

Chamber of Secrets
"This was too much for both Aunt Petunia and Harry. Aunt Petunia burst into tears and hugged her son, while Harry ducked under the table so they wouldn't see him laughing."

Page 40 compared to Deathly Hallows page 115. . . .

"'Bill got twelve, too. If we're not careful, we'll have another Head Boy in the family. I don't think I could stand the shame.'" - George Weasley.

"'A month?' said Ron. 'Malfoy could have attacked half the Muggle-borns in the school by then!' But Hermione's eyes narrowed dangerously again, and he added swiftly, 'But it's the best plan we've got, so full steam ahead, I say.'"

"Harry was just thinking that all he needed was for Dumbledore's pet bird to die while he was alone in the office with it, when the bird burst into flames."

Foreshadowing on page 232 - JK is a genius.

"'What does she understand?' said Harry distractedly... 'Loads more than I do,' said Ron, shaking his head."

"'It's our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.'" - Dumbledore

"'Your aunt and uncle will be proud, though, won't they?' said Hermione. 'Proud?' said Harry. 'Are you crazy? All those times I could've died, and didn't manage it? They'll be furious...'"

Also, pretty much anything Gilderoy Lockhart says. Ridiculous. Onto Prisoner of Azkaban! :)

Prisoner of Azkaban
"'I'd hate to see what the Ministry'd do to me if I blew up my aunt. Mind you, they'd have to dig me up first, because Mum would've killed me.'" (Ron)

"'Mum!' said Fred as though he'd only just spotted her and seized her hand too. 'How really corking to see you --'"

"'Oliver, calm down!' said Fred, looking slightly alarmed. 'We're taking Hufflepuff very seriously. Seriously.'"

"Ron, who told Hermione she was a know-it-all at least twice a week, said loudly, 'You asked us a question and she knows the answer! Why ask if you don't want to be told?'"

"'Just because I told her I didn't care if it threw you off, as long as you caught the Snitch first.' Wood shook his head in disbelief. 'Honestly, the way she was yelling at me...you'd think I'd said something terrible...'"

"'You know what-- we should make up with Hermione...She was only trying to help...' 'Yeah, all right,' said Ron. 'She's in the common room now--working, for a change--'"

"'Pity you can't attach an extra arm to yours, Malfoy,' said Harry. 'Then if could catch the Snitch for you.'"

"Professor Trelawney rusted past. 'Would anyone like me to help them interpret the shadowy portends within their Orb?' she murmured over the clinking of her bangle. 'I don't need help,' Ron whispered. 'It's obvious what this means. There's going to be loads of fog tonight.'"

"'You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don't recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you, Harry, and shows himself most plainly when you have need of him. How else could you produce that particular Patronus? Prongs rode again last night.'" (Dumbledore)

Goblet of Fire
"'Muggle women wear them, Archie, not the men, they wear these,' said the Ministry wizard, and he brandished the pinstriped trousers. 'I'm not putting them on,' said old Archie in indignation. 'I like a healthy breeze 'round my privates, thanks.'"

"'Anyone can speak Troll,' said Fred dismissively. 'All you have to do is point and grunt.'"

"'Oh shut up, Weatherby,' said Fred."

"'You father thinks very highly of Mad-Eye Moody,' said Mrs. Weasley sternly. 'Yeah, well, Dad collects plugs, doesn't he?' said Fred quietly as Mrs. Weasley left the room. 'Birds of a feather...'"

'"But Hogwarts is hidden,' said Hermione, in surprise. 'Everyone knows that...well, everyone who's read Hogwarts, A History, anyway.' 'Just you, then,' said Ron."

"'I think I am right in saying, my dear, that you were born in midwinter?' (Professor Trelawney) 'No,' said Harry, 'I was born in July.'"

"'Can I have a look at Uranus too, Lavender?' said Ron."

"'Hermione, Neville's right -- you are a girl...' 'Oh well spotted,' she said acidly."

"'Ah, I see,' said Moody softly. 'Got Potter's best interests at heart, have you?' There was a pause. Snape and Moody were still staring at each other."

"'If Snape hadn't held me up,' said Harry bitterly. . . 'Maybe he didn't want you to get there!' said Ron quickly. 'Maybe --hang on-- how fast d'you reckon he could've gotten down to the forest? D'you reckon he could've beaten you and Dumbledore there?' 'Not unless he can turn himself into a bat or something,' said Harry."

"'It is my belief -- and never have I so hoped that I am mistaken -- that we are all facing dark and difficult times. Some of you in this Hall have already suffered directly at the hands of Lord Voldemort. Many of your families have been torn asunder. A week ago, a student was taken from our midst. Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.'" (Dumbledore)

Order of the Phoenix
"'Listening to the news! Again?' 'Well, it changes every day, you see,' said Harry."

"'Time is Galleons, little brother,' said Fred." -- I always want to say this, but it makes no sense in the "muggle" world. :(

"'from what they were saying, Dumbledore was having real trouble finding anyone to do the job this year.' 'Not surprising, is it, when you look at what's happened to the last four?' said George. 'One sacked, one dead, one's memory removed, and one locked in a trunk for nine months,' said Harry, counting them off on his fingers. 'Yeah, I see what you mean.'"

Pages 161-163 including:
"'I don't believe it! I don't believe it! Oh, Ron, how wonderful! A prefect! That's everyone in the family!'
'What are Fred and I, next-door neighbors?' said George indignantly."  (I remember laughing, so hard, the first time I read this.)

"'I'll make Goyle do lines, it'll kill him, he hates writing,' said Ron happily. He lowered his voice to Goyle's low grunt and, screwing up his face in a look of pained concentration, mimed writing in midair. "I...must...not...look...like...a...baboon's...backside...'"

"'Well, you'd deserve it,' she snapped. 'You don't even try to listen to him, do you?' 'We do try,' said Ron. 'We just haven't got your brains or your memory or your concentration -- you're just cleverer than we are -- is it nice to rub it in?'"

'"' --but you get these massive pus-filled boils too,' said George, 'and we haven't worked out how to get rid of them yet.' 'I can't see any boils.' said Ron, staring at the twins. 'No, well, you wouldn't,' said Fred darkly, 'they're not in a place we generally display to the public--' '--but they make sitting on a broom a right pain in the --'"

"'I should have made my meaning plainer,' said Professor McGonagall. turning at last to look Umbridge directly in the eyes. 'He has achieved high marks in all Defense Against the Dark Arts tests set by a competent teacher.'" (McGonagall becomes so B.A. starting in this book.)

Fred & George's flight: "'Give her hell from us, Peeves.' And Peeves, whom Harry had never seen take an order from a student before, swept his belled hat form his head and sprang to a salute as Fred and George wheeled about to tumultuous applause from the students below and sped out of the open front doors into the glorious sunset."

"'Oh, you're so naive sometimes, Harry, you really think Umbridge will wait for proof?' said Hermione, who seem determined to be in a towering temper, and she swept off toward the girls' dormitories banging the door behind her. 'Such a lovely, sweet-tempered girl,' said Ron."

"'And from now on, I don't care if my tea leaves spell die, Ron, die -- I'm just chucking them in the bin where they belong.'"

"'That power took you to save Sirius tonight. That power also saved you from possession by Voldemort, because he could not bear to reside in a body so full of the force he detests. In the end, it mattered not that you could not close your mind. It was your heart that saved you.'" ...."'I feel I owe you another explanation, Harry,' said Dumbledore hesitantly. 'You may, perhaps, have wondered why I never chose you as a prefect? I must confess...that I rather thought...you had enough responsibility to be going on with.' Harry looked up at him and saw a tear trickling down Dumbledore's face into his long silver beard."

Half-Blood Prince
"'And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.'" -Dumbledore

"'Harry Potter knows he can confide in me with complete confidence, I told them, I would rather die than betray his trust.' (Nearly Headless Nick) 'That's not saying much, seeing as you're already dead,' Ron observed."

"'Yes,' said Harry stiffly. 'Yes, sir.' (Snape) 'There's no need to call me 'sir,' Professor.'"

"Parvati positively beamed. Harry could tell that she was feeling guilty for having laughed at Hermione in Transfiguration. He looked around and saw that Hermione was beaming back, if possible even more brightly. Girls were very strange sometimes."

"'Well, you can't break an Unbreakable Vow...' (Ron) 'I'd worked that much out for myself, funnily enough.' (Harry)"

"'What is this we hear from Ginny about you and a young lady called -- unless our information is faulty --Lavender Brown?' (George) Ron turned a little pink, but did not look displeased as he turned back to the sprouts. 'Mind your own business.' 'What a snappy report,' said Fred. 'I really don't know how you think of them. No, what we wanted to know was.. how did it happen?'"

"'Promise me you'll look after yourself...Stay out of trouble....' (Mrs. Weasley) 'I always do, Mrs. Weasley,' said Harry. 'I like a quiet life, you know me.'"

"'The old argument,' he said softly. 'But nothing I have seen in the world has supported your famous pronouncements that love is more powerful than my kind of magic, Dumbledore.' (Voldemort) 'Perhaps you have been looking in the wrong places,' suggested Dumbledore."

"Harry looked around; there was Ginny running toward him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her."

"'I am not worried, Harry,' said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. 'I am with you.'"

"'Severus....please...'" (Dumbledore)

"'DON'T --' screamed Snape, and his face was suddenly demented, inhuman, as though he was in as much pain as the yelping, howling dog stuck in the burning house behind them --'CALL ME COWARD!'"

"'He will only be gone from the school when none here are loyal to him,' said Harry, smiling in spite of himself."

"Harry laughed. 'Voldemort wants to kill me himself, and Aurors won't stop him. So thanks for the offer, but no thanks.'"

"'I see you are ---' (Scrimgeour) 'Dumbledore's man through and through,' said Harry. 'That's right.'"

"'We'll be there, Harry,' said Ron. 'You said to us once before,' said Hermione quietly, 'that there was time to turn back if we wanted to. We've had time, haven't we?' 'We're with you whatever happens,' said Ron."

"His hand closed automatically around the fake Horcrux, but in spite of everything, in spite of the dark and twisting path he saw stretching ahead of himself, in spite of the final meeting with Voldemort he knew must come, whether in a month, in a year, or in ten, he felt his heart lift at the thought that there was still one last golden day of peace left to enjoy with Ron and Hermione."

Deathly Hallows
"'Congratulations!' and Ron said, 'Blimey, a baby!' as if he had never heard of such a thing before."

"'Well, I don't know how to break this to you,' said Ron, 'but I think they might have noticed we broke into Gringotts.'"

"'I think she might be dead!' he shouted with delight. 'Oh, look,' whispered Luna happily, as the Ravenclaws crowded in around Alecto. 'They're pleased!'"

"Percy spluttered into silence. Evidently he had not expected to run into most of his family. There was a long moment of astonishment, broken by Fleur turning to Lupin and saying, in a wildly transparent attempt to break the tension, 'So --'ow eez leetle Teddy?'"

Pansy Parkinson - page 610 - sorry, not typing aaaaall of that.

"'And that's the second time we've saved your life tonight, you two-faced bastard!' Ron yelled."

"'After all this time?' 'Always.' said Snape."

"'Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?'" - Dumbledore

"'Why are they all staring?' demanded Albus as he and Rose craned around to look at the other students. 'Don't let it worry you,' said Ron. 'It's me. I'm extremely famous.'"
