Ma Famille

So in one of my classes recently, we had to do a genogram. This is similar to a family tree except there are more symbols and lines to indicate types of relationships, if someone was adopted in, or different diseases, etc. So I did this assignment and got to my dad's side & just drew a bunch of red lines from my dad to all 9 of his siblings, which basically means "distant," because my dad doesn't really talk to any of them. So I had to get the names of his siblings from my mom & that's about all the information I had, I knew they were married but didn't know to who, I know I have a ton of cousins, but again don't remember who's kids they are or all of their names. Then something sweet happened this weekend, one of my cousins friend requested my sister on Facebook. So over the last two days I've been Facebook creeping all these people, trying to figure out who I'm related to and what our relation is. I was rewarded with a message from my uncle today and he told me a few other people I would be able to find. I have no idea what any of this means in regards to reconnecting with them, but I'm excited to find out and excited we're connected somehow; if for nothing else I'm pumped to be related to someone who can say "Think I have some photos somewhere when you were here years ago (mid 90's) with your Da, would be great to see ye again” and not be faking an accent.
